King of the casual's

Until I work out the best way to do this I'm going to use our message boards (yeap they still exist)

Starting in July we are looking at running a league for the magic players at club. it will be 1 event a month with a different event each time and is going to be geared towards the more casual players in the formats that we have chosen. We are aiming to have prize support at each of the monthly events as well as things for the end of the league as well.

Each event will be its own thing and you are under no obligation to play in all of them (although the more you do the better you score) and no matter what position you finish in for each event you will score points towards the league.

The proposed schedual for this is:
July: Eldrithc moon draft, what better way to kick things off than drafting the second set of of the inistrad block
August: Conspiracy draft, this will be a proper casual multi player draft (but we have worked out a scoring system that we can use)
September: Backdraft, in the final month of the Inistrad block we will look at doing this "unusual" draft system. for those unaware of this format, you draft as normal but once finished before any games you then randomly swap your draft with another player
October: Kaladesh draft, As with eldritch moon this will be a draft of the newest set
November: Chaos draft, with the end of the year coming and all the sets available for the year we will run a chaos draft. for this players would provide their own booster packs but they can bring them from any set they wish (it is entirely up to you how much spend on this, they can be the most recent standard blocks or you can go tracking down other packs including conspiracy or eternal masters although we would recomend being sensible in the packs as some people may ony bring the "cheapest" packs)
December: to finsh this thing off and in connection to the planechase from the vaults set being released our last event will be a multi-player planechase event

please note that as this is 6 months worth of events that the actual format for events and the dates will have to be confirmed on a month by month basis so this schedual is possibly subject to change

Scoring for 1v1 player events:

All events that are run using the Swiss tournament format (our standard draft format) will be scored in the following way

points will be awarded for first place based on a maximum score and then each position below this will score 1 less point till a minimum score for last place. the scoring we are looking at using is based on drafts of up to 18 players (we may adjust this if an event has more than this but not for less than this) first place would score 25pts, 2nd would score 24 and so on until last place would score 8pts

this format should mean that just by turning up to an event you are scoring enough points to still be able to compete win or lose

for multiplayer variants we will have slightly different scoring system that will be explained before those events
